MINI PREVIEW

So for the last few months, my business partner and I, Peggy, having been working on a client's home. This project has been a COMPLETE overhaul. We've taken our client's home from something that looked like the inside of a wooden box to something contemporary, sleek and stylish. We are just about finished and we're looking forward to the reveal party that she's going to have on the 22nd to show her "new" home to her friends and family. I think this is one project Urban Safari Design can be proud of. Here are just a few before and after pics. Be sure to tell me what you think....

(We're still waiting on the custom window covering to come in. It's on back order..)

We have to take a few more pictures and we have a couple more items to buy but for the most part, this is a glimpse into the finished product. I'll give the full rundown on the reveal day.

The bathroom seems to be the largest improvement. I'll be looking forward to seeing the backordered blinds. I'm not sure if I like the living room. Seems empty and the furniture is all up against the walls. Not seeing the rest of the room, like a TV or such, maybe that's how it needs to be?

Garret, that's not actually the living room, it's a TV room. What you cannot see is the 42" plasma TV and low profile entertainment unit that is across from the sofa, so the sofa kinda has to be positioned where it is. Also, the bookshelves are built-ins so they cannot be moved. The flooring used to be carpeted and we changed it to wood throughout the TV room, living room, dining room and kitchen. Thanks for your opinion though, I appreciate it.

What a HUGE difference! It looks wonderful, Jackie and Peggy. I love the darker circle above the fireplace. I would love to come home to that.

In looking at the before pictures, I can see how someone would be depressed (not that this family was) or just feel blah. The after pics really bring life to the house. Life to the person.

Great job again!

I think that you guys did a great job. I was wondering how you guys would handle that wallpaper and the wood paneling. The paint in the bedroom definitely takes away from the dungeon feeling bring some light to the room but the color scheme and the textures definitly keeps it warm. That wall paper was definitly out of touch so way to bring some modern flare and elegance to the bathroom experience. Good job.

The window treatmeant makes the bedroom hot
Good choice for the curtain rod
Good height for the side tables too
The floor vase is what's up
A little bit of muted blue woulda been a good splash
...dunno bout the symetric wall art though; overall hotness

Entryway is a banger...shoulda had something tall somewhere

The Bookcase is a WINNER!
Good lighting upgrade...only thing hotter woulda been recessed lights...the brick is bangin

You DEFINTELY hooked the bathroom
...no rugs?
That Color on the tile is the truth!

You are the best!

Talk about a much needed face lift! Jackie, you and Peggy worked great magic for this homeowner. You all deserve a bonus. I agree with Jewell, if I had to come home to the former I would feel so drab and blah. Just the brightness that you all brought to the home alone is worth whatever you all charged. Great turnaround!

I'm especially feelin' the made-over entry. Question, though: Did you do anything to the ceiling? It's not visible in the after picture of the foyer. Looks like it began as a drop ceiling, is that right? I hate drop ceilings, and I'm looking to get rid or ours on the lower level.

I love what you've done to the place, especially the TV room. I'm thinking about starting and interior design business myself. Just out of curiosity, for tax purposes did you incorporate yourselves or not?

Thanks everyone for the comments so far.
Eclectik: Those actually are bath rugs on the bathroom floor. The tile is actually a more muted color.

Anonymousnupe: We just painted the ceiling a solid light color to draw your eye's focus away from the ceiling. We didn't do any structural changes to her home.

Anonymous: We actually are incorporated and thanks to D.O. when he made his money management trip out here to LA the week before last:), he's now a guru on tax benefits for being incorporated and he has given me the low down!
