ENGAGEMENT

NO, not mine, before I even get started, lol....... my roommate's!

So this past weekend, my roommate Erica got engaged to her boyfriend of three years, Patrick Davis. I can't tell you how many times I've joked with her and called her Mrs. Davis and asked her when and where can we go to look for my bridesmaid dress and what kind of dress she's gonna wear on her wedding day and she would always just chuckle and brush me off and NOW look!!! It has come to fruition and Ms. Erica Witter will be becoming Mrs. Erica Davis some time next summer and I am EXTREMELY happy for them both!

I have to say, that Patrick outdid himself. A few weeks ago, he contacted me and told me that he was going to propose but that he needed to have a "proposal meeting" in regards to what he planned to do. I was like, really?? Why do you need to have all that? But being the good roomie that I am, I, along with the other 4 people that would be involved in this production attended said meeting.

We were informed at that time that Patrick intended to do a reproduction of an episode of Martin, the sitcom with Martin Lawrence from back in the day, when Martin proposed to Gina. Now I didn't remember the episode off the top of my head but since P-Diddy (Patrick's nickname) was on top of everything, he had his laptop there to show us all the episode on dvd. Basically, Martin took Gina out to this beautiful park and he started telling her all the reasons why he hadn't proposed yet and then one by one all his friends started to appear with different items in tow, each saying a couple lines.

First, someone appeared with a jacket, asking if the lady was cold and if Martin wanted to use it for his lady friend. Then Pam appeared with some flowers and said "Flowers for the lady, flowers for the lady?" After Martin responded saying he didn't have much money, Pam told him that in the name of love, she would let him have the flowers for a dollar. Well I was Pam. I'm no actress but I just hoped I would be able to say my 2 lines without messing up:-/

Someone else then appeared with Gina's favorite bottle of wine and then finally Brian McKnight appeared and sang her favorite song after which point, Martin got down on one knee and proposed in front of the whole group and of course, Gina said yes.

So that was what we all did and no Brian McKnight was not there but Terrence was a more than adequate replacement. The location was overlooking the ocean up in Palos Verdes at sunset. It was absolutely beautiful. Everything went off smoothly and Erica was so surprised and overwhelmed. Of course, I flubbed my two lines because as soon as I saw that she was crying and overcome with emotion, there I went getting all teary-eyed too and so my two lines which were supposed to have a break to let P-Diddy say a response became one long run-on sentence:-( Actress I am not!! LOL!

Anyway, of course she said yes and we got it all film and we took a bunch of photos of the evening. Patrick did an awesome job and set the bar really high. I'm so honoured to have been a part of the whole thing and I couldn't be happier unless it were my own engagement:-)

Here are just a few pics from the evening's events......

Can you beat this setting? I think not!

The set-up

His little pre-speech, during which time he said something about being "a little dirty, gap-toothed kid"....I just wanted to know what's wrong with having a gap in one's teeth, lol??

Will you marry me?

She said YES!!

Don't let that smile fool you, he was nervous....that smile is relief, lol

I know that's right! Congrats to Erica and Patrick! He did a wonderful job. Wishing them both immeasurable happiness.

And look at Coen making an appearance. =)

I'm sure in all of your nervousness you forgot to add in the accent for your lines. I can hear Pam right now.
